About me
I’m a crofter here as of recent years – alongside community project work. Before this, I worked with groups as a community gardener, grew for a hotel kitchen, and a variety of other things!
I’ve always enjoyed an adventure, whether on foot or by bike, with a tent, bagging a summit or exploring a coastline. I’m delighted now to be able to share the wild places here on my doorstep with others!
I hold the Hill & Moorland Leader qualification through Mountain Training Scotland, with outdoor first aid training and insurance.
Sometimes people ask me where my interest in history began – and it’s this.
A flint arrowhead, lying on the surface of earth scuffed bare, just a metre or so from where I was sitting, one sunny day of summer 2014 – Ardtun, Isle of Mull. It was such a lucky spot, and I still find it incredible to remember!
It’s now on display in the Bunessan Heritage Centre, Ross of Mull, and dated to somewhere between 2500 – 1500BC of the Chalcolithic or Early Bronze age.
I do this because I love it. The best one-liner I’ve heard is ‘Woah, this is like being in David Attenborough!’ – and most often I hear from people that they wouldn’t have ventured to the places explored if it wasn’t for the guided walk – which makes my day every time!
