Vantage points at sea cliffs
The vantage points at Druim nam Faoillean are safe places to stand for great views – assuming it’s not blowing a hoolie! It’s only safe however, if you keep a sensible distance in from the edge. Similarly, the clifftop path route to Pigs Paradise is stunning, and safe assuming care is taken, and a great respect for the edge!
I ask that participants take on board the advice offered on the approach to these special places, so everyone stays safe.
Dogs
Calm dogs on leads only can be accepted. The croft is home to free ranging hens and there’s livestock to be expected across all areas explored, forming part of a crofting income – so it’s essential that all dogs arriving and accompanying walkers are at all times securely on a lead.
Dog owners need to be confident that their dog will be calm & safe at bird cliff vantage points, for themselves and others. If you have any doubts in this respect, please take it as a sign that it’s not a good idea! Walks further afield can involve styles, or steps over a stone wall.
Directions
The Wee Croft can be found by taking the new road at the northern shore of Port Mor bay, Lower Kilchattan. This hugs the rocky shore at first, and then gains height, until you pass a new-build to your left, and straight after this, see a track turning also to your left, through a gate. This takes you across a field that curves around.
You’re aiming for the place with the red corrugate house roof – look out for this!
Come across the croft then as far as the green shed, the hens will probably come to greet you, and you’ll find me around there.
Weather
Walks are weather dependent! Some days may be too windy and wet – we can reschedule if possible.
Sturdy footwear is required, with good layers, water & provisions to suit both the length of walk and the weather – often the classic Scottish combination of waterproofs and suncream!
Last, but not least

About me
I’m a crofter here as of recent years – alongside community project coordinator work. Before this, I worked with groups as a community gardener, grew for a hotel kitchen, and a variety of other things!
I’ve always enjoyed an adventure, whether on foot or by bike, with a tent, bagging a summit or exploring a coastline. I’m delighted now to be able to share the wild places here on my doorstep with others!
I hold the Hill & Moorland Leader qualification through Mountain Training Scotland, with outdoor first aid training and insurance.
